From booking to entrance — the 5 steps

What actually happens between clicking "book" on GetYourGuide and walking through security at Doge's Palace.

  1. 1

    Book on GetYourGuide

Pick Standard (4 museums) or Plus (all 14). GetYourGuide asks for an estimated visit date for planning — but the Museum Pass itself doesn't lock you to a time slot. You'll get an email confirmation with a PDF voucher within minutes.

  2. 2

Save the voucher to your phone

You don't need to print it. The PDF (or a screenshot of the QR code) is what the desk staff in Venice will scan. Make sure your phone is charged.

  3. 3

    Arrive in Venice

Within 180 days of the booking date (yes — really 180 days). Head to one of four exchange desks. The closest one depends on how you're arriving — see below.

  4. 4

Exchange the voucher for the official pass

Show the QR code at the desk. They'll print the official Fondazione Musei Civici card. Takes 2–5 minutes if there's a small queue.

  5. 5

    Use it at every museum

Show the card at the entrance of every museum on your list. All civic museums — Doge's Palace included — accept the pass any time during opening hours, within the 6-month validity of the official card. No time-slot reservation needed.

The 4 voucher-exchange desks

All four desks issue the same official Museum Pass. Pick the one nearest to where you're entering Venice.

Marco Polo Airport — boat dock

Marco Polo Airport (VCE), Tessera — the boat dock immediately outside the terminal

Opening hours: 07:45 – 24:00

Best if you're flying in and taking the Alilaguna water bus to Venice. Exchange before boarding.

Alilaguna kiosk — Santa Lucia station

Venezia Santa Lucia railway station — Alilaguna kiosk on the canal-side

Opening hours: 08:30 – 14:20

Best if you're arriving by train. Exchange before getting on the Vaporetto.

Tronchetto InterParking

Tronchetto Island parking complex

Opening hours: 08:00 – 18:00

Best if you're arriving by car and parking on Tronchetto.

Heads-up: the Santa Lucia and Giardinetti kiosks close earlier than the Airport one. If you're arriving late evening, go to the Airport desk or wait until the next morning.

After you've exchanged — what to expect

A few things the GetYourGuide listing doesn't spell out clearly:

6 months to use it

Once exchanged, the official Museum Pass is valid 6 months from that day. Visit the other civic museums at any pace.

No timed entry — but mind the queue

The Museum Pass does not assign a specific entry slot at Doge's Palace. Walk in any time during opening hours — but expect the longest security queues midday in summer.

Security check at Doge's Palace

Bags through scanners. 5–10 minutes off-peak, 15–30 minutes in summer midday. Plan for it.
